NDA Eligibility Criteria for Female Candidates

The NDA eligibility criteria for female candidates are similar to those for male candidates in many ways but with a few specific considerations. As of recent changes, female candidates are now allowed to apply for the National Defence Academy (NDA) exams, which was previously limited to male candidates. Here’s an overview of the NDA eligibility criteria for female candidates:

1. Nationality:
The candidate must be a citizen of India, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Nepal, Bhutan country with the intention of settling permanently in India. Female candidates from other countries may also apply if they meet the necessary visa or residency requirements as prescribed by the Ministry of Defence.

2. Age Limit:
Female candidates must be within the age range of 16.5 to 19.5 years as of the date of the examination. This means that only those born between 1st January 2005 and 1st July 2007 (for NDA 2024) are eligible. Candidates must verify the exact date range mentioned in the official notification before applying.

3. Educational Qualifications:
Female candidates must have passed the 12th standard (or equivalent) examination from a recognized educational board. The subjects studied in Class 12 should include Physics and Mathematics, as these are required to apply for entry into the Army, Navy, or Air Force through the NDA. 4. Marital Status:
Female candidates must be single at the time of applying. This is similar to the male candidates’ eligibility. Once admitted to the NDA, candidates will undergo rigorous training, and marriage during this period is not allowed.

5. Physical and Medical Standards:
Female candidates must fulfill the medical requirements set by the Indian Armed Forces. They should be physically fit, with no history of chronic diseases or disabilities. A detailed medical examination will be conducted after the written exam.

6. Examination and Selection Process:
Female candidates must undergo the NDA Written Exam and, if selected, proceed to the SSB Interview. The physical fitness tests and medical examination will follow if the candidate clears the interview stage.

Conclusion:
The inclusion of female candidates in the NDA is a significant step towards gender equality in the Indian Armed Forces. Female aspirants need to ensure they meet the academic, age, and physical fitness criteria to successfully apply for the NDA and join the prestigious National Defence Academy.
